New Renault Megane

The famous French car maker Renault has been producing the Megan since 1995. The car is currently in its third generation, and a new, refreshed version has been given a facelift in time to be released for the 2012 model year. The Megane is available in a wide range of body styles which includes both 3-door and 5-door hatchbacks, as well as a 5-door Tourer estate, 2-door Cabriolet and a 3-door Coupe. For buyers who are looking for a little bit of extra speed and performance there is also a 3-door Renaultsport hatchback model with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which has been designed and manufactured with maximum performance as the overriding priority.

The Renault Megane for 2012 features range of small design changes, alongside a new range of engines. This latest update to one of Renault's most popular cars applies to both the 3 and 5-door hatchback models as well as the estate, but will not apply to the convertible variant of the Megane.

The new range is available to order already, and is priced from £16,275 for an entry level 5-door hatchback fitted with a 1.6-litre 110bhp petrol engine with Expression+ trim. The new £16,275 price tag represents an increase of £585 on last year’s model.

The entry level Expression+ trim includes a range of standard equipment such as cruise control, 16 inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth and USB connectivity and a leather steering wheel.

Moving up the range from the basic Expression+ models there are two higher trim levels, called Dynamique TomTom and GT Line TomTom. In previous years Renault used to offer many more trim levels, but the firm has decided to simplify its range and will now offer just three trim levels for every one of its models.

At the top of the new 2012 range for the Renault Megane is the Sport Tourer dCi 160 GT Line TomTom model, which will now cost £23,325 on the road.

If you are thinking about buying a new Renault Megane then you should speak to your local dealer or do a little bit of online research to find out about all of the equipment and features that are available with each of the three trim levels for 2012 as well as all of the extra optional equipment packages which you can purchase to add additional style and functionality to the vehicle beyond that which is offered by the regular trim levels.
